Ήμουν μέλος της American Economic Association και της Royal Economic Society (Μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου στην περίοδο 1982-86).

Αντικείμενο αξιολόγησης και σχετική εμπειρία

Πέρα από τη διδακτική, ερευνητική και διοικητική εμπειρία μου στους χώρους οικονομικής επιστήμης, διοίκησης επιχειρήσεων και, γενικότερα, κοινωνικών επιστημών, διαθέτω πολύχρονη εμπειρία στην αξιολόγηση πανεπιστημιακών προγραμματών σε όλα τα επίπεδα, στα πλαίσια του Βρεταννικού Council of National Academic Awards (CNAA).

To (CNAA) είχε την ευθύνη για την πιστοποίηση πρώτιστα αλλά και για την βελτίωση της ποιότητας και του επιπέδου των ακαδημαϊκών σπουδών περισσότερων από 30 ιδρυμάτων τριτοβάθμιας εκαπίδευσης. Τα ιδρύματα αυτά παρείχαν από τότε πανεπιστημιακές σπουδές μέχρι του διδακτορικού επιπέδου, υπό την αιγίδα του CNAA, και είναι σήμερα αναγνωρισμένα αυτόνομα πανεπιστήμια.

Ως μέλος της Επιτροπής Οικονομικής Επιστήμης [CNAA Economics Board] κατά την περίοδο 1978-84 και της Επιτροπής Κοινωνικών Επιστημών [CNAA Combined Studies (Social Science) Board] στην περίοδο 1982-85, είχα την ευκαιρία να συμμετάσχω στην αξιολόγηση δεκάδων προγραμμάτων που συνεδύαζαν την οικονομική με άλλους επιστημονικούς κλάδους.

Πιο πρόσφατα, ασχολήθηκα με θέματα αξιολόγησης ως σύμβουλος στην μονάδα Συντονισμού Αξιολόγησης της Γενικής Διεύθυνσης ΧVΙ της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής (1992-95). Η εμπειρία αυτή μου έδωσε την δυνατότητα να γνωρίσω καλά τις διαδικασίες αξιολόγησης της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής, ιδίως στο χώρο της Περιφερειακής Πολιτικής. Μου έδωσε επίσης την ευκαιρία να μελετήσω γενικότερα τις μεθόδους, τις εξελίξεις και τα προβλήματα της αξιολόγησης, που αποτελεί πλέον ένα νέο και γρήγορα αναπτυσσόμενο ακαδημαϊκό κλάδο όχι μόνο στις ΗΠΑ, όπου αρχικά καθιερώθηκε, αλλά και στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.
